My Birth Story in Kyoto - 京都での出産体験

This last August, my family and I welcomed our third baby girl, Lia Marie. I gave birth in Kyoto at Adachi Hospital.  Being my first time giving birth in Kyoto I searched high and wide for a good place (or at least as much as I could decipher online) and finally decided on Adachi as it came highly recommended from a good friend.

I had a pretty calm pregnancy, with no complications, although Lia was breech until 32 weeks.  My worst fear was not making it to the hospital in time as I live about 20-30 minutes away, depending on traffic and my previous births have been fairly quick.

Well thank goodness, that did not happen but we came pretty close.  My water broke around 11AM on August 4th, and my husband and I made it to the hospital by 12:30.  Lia Marie made her debut at 1:30, so all in all a pretty fast and furious labor.

I had such a wonderful midwife taking care of me, and she even spoke English which was comforting.  I stayed at the hospital for 4 days, and my room was very homey and hotel like.  I enjoyed cuddling Lia in the huge double bed and got some rest before going home.

While I was planning on having a full newborn photoshoot once I got home, I did snap a few pictures in the hospital.  I can't believe how much she changed and at the same time, when I look at these pictures I can still feel how small and soft she was.
